Tool Description#

The Matrix Tool is an online web-tool to help manage find a replacement recycled plastics (recyclate) with certain properties or to find potential buyers of your produced plastics. TODO

Advantages of the Matrix Tool#

1. The matrix tool can help remove the barrier of one-to-one communication between customer and supplier.

2. Customers/buyers can find their desired recyclate using the matrix tool through the tool. The tool provides a ranking of the recyclate based on the probable match with the desired properties. Even if the exact match is not possible, the tool provides a list with alternative ranking.

3. Customer can also request the material they are seeking mentioning the required properties in the tool.

4. Suppliers uisng the tool can showcase their recyclates and attract customers using the tool.

5. Customers can request testing to verify the mentioned properties.

6. There will be an increase in the recylate of the suppliers uptake due to the publicity of the material through the matrix tool.

7. The tool connects the producer with the converter.

Explaination of Important Material Properties#

Charpy Impact Strength: Denotes the energy needed for fracture of the material. The greater the value, the more resistant the material is to cracking upon being hit and vice versa.

Strain at Yield: Denotes the percentage of elongation of the material at its maximum elastic point. The greater the value, the more the elongation and vice versa.

Yield Stress: Force the material can handle at its maximum elastic point. The greater the value, the more force the material can handle and vice versa.

E-modulus: Denotes the stiffness of the material. The greater the value the stiffer the material is and vice versa.

Vicat: Denotes the temperature at which the material softens.

MFI: Denotes the flow behavior of the material. This property is very important for processing technology.
